Representatives from some of the New Zealand Tech Alliance communities - AgritechNZ, FinTechNZ, BioTechNZ, EdTechNZ and Digital Identity NZ – will talk about what is happening their industries at the moment and what they are doing to advance the ecosystem with new opportunites. The New Zealand Tech Alliance is a group of independent technology associations from across New Zealand that work together to ensure a strong voice for technology.

Andrew is a technology lawyer at Hudson Gavin Martin in Auckland – with a
focus on FinTech, data and “as a Service” business models. He regularly
helps clients navigate complex legal issues at the cutting edge of
technology – in areas like IoT, SaaS and data-driven platforms.
Andrew is an active member of the fintech ecosystem in New Zealand and acts
for a number of fintech and financial services clients. He has been a member
of the FinTech NZ Executive Council since 2018 and has been closely involved
in many FinTech NZ initiatives, including supporting two delegations to
London and co-authoring a report on FinTech trade opportunities between NZ
and the UK.
Zahra Champion is the Executive Director of the BIOTech New Zealand, she is a commercially astute and highly experienced senior leader, with an impressive career overseeing multi-million-dollar projects. Held senior management and governance roles, providing advice and leading projects in food and beverage, biotechnology, agriculture, health, and information technology in New Zealand and overseas. Zahra has a PhD (Medical and Health Sciences) and a Master of Management, from The University of Auckland and have 9 published papers. She is also the Assistant Director of the Institute for Innovation in Biotechnology (IIB), The University of Auckland, Board Member on Pharmaceutical Solutions, Hearing Auckland: Hearing Association Inc. and the Hearing New Zealand Charitable Trust. She is very passionate about research and development, with biology and technology creating innovative solutions for our nation and international challenges we are facing.
Shane is the Chair of EdTechNZ and a Strategy & Innovation lead at Augen
Software Group. He is passionate about technology as an enabler and has 35
of industry experience. He’s a strong customer advocate and his focus is
about; strategic, outcomes-focused, business and technology solutions.
His experience includes working with the Tertiary and ITO sector, small to
large Corporates and NGOs and providing strategic consultation to support
innovation and disruption.
He has a particular passion in advancing the EdTech sector in New Zealand
with a focus on learner-centred education and ensuring that both the student
and teacher have agency.
The focus goes beyond traditional K12 and Tertiary and takes a long-term
view of continuous education through to and beyond retirement (cradle to
grave).
