Gino Acevedo (Creative Art Director at Weta Digital) and Kristy Grant (Director of Miramar Creative) will talk about the importance of giving back, mentoring, and collaborating with people at all stages in their careers.
This event includes a special screening of Wellington ICT Graduate School's Master of Design Technology students' 2019-20 capstone short-films with a student panel hosted by Gino about their experiences with industry collaboration and professional growth.

This talk is a part of the Miramar Creative Centre series of talks. Miramar Creative Centre is a collaboration between Victoria University of Wellington and Miramar Creative Ltd which sits amongst the Weta group buildings on Park Road and offers unrivalled access to work experience and professional connections with New Zealand’s world-leading film, animation, and game design industries. Gino has worked on many movies and shows including King Kong, The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep, Avatar, The Hobbit, and The Umbrella Academy. On The Hobbit he supervised the textures department as well as being on set to apply makeup effects to Thorin and some of the Orcs.
Kristy's work focuses on collaborative spaces that support a range of arts and culture including design, film and TV, games, extended reality, music, and more. Kristy also leads several engagement projects to establish stronger international ties to NZ with creative organisations across the globe.
