Navigating the Corporate VC landscape (how do I get acquired anyway??). Lovina McMurchy interviews Lisa Nelson founder of Microsoft's M12 fund.

What's it all about?

Join the Partners from Movac for your morning coffee break as they interview the global super-stars making up their new Board of Advisors. Episode 2 features Seattle Corporate VC legend Lisa Nelson and Movac partner Lovina McMurchy.

During her 14 year tenure at Microsoft, Lisa co-founded Microsoft’s Venture Fund M12, investing in early-stage start-ups around the globe. With Lisa’s leadership, the fund became one of the most active venture funds in North America – in just three years, the fund deployed several hundreds of millions of dollars in over 80 startups. In this episode Lisa will describe the Corporate VC landscape in the US and discuss the pros and cons of having a Corporate VC on your cap table. Lisa will share how the M12 program worked and what characteristics Microsoft most valued in it's early stage investments.

Movac is New Zealand's most experienced venture capital company having invested in iconic Kiwi companies such as TradeMe, Aroa, PowerbyProxi and Vend. Now raising Fund 5 to provide Kiwi entrepreneurs a funding path from Pre-A to Series C (and all the tough bits in-between). Lovina McMurchy is a GP in Movac's soon-to-be-launched Fund 5. She has returned to New Zealand after 20 years as a global technology executive at companies such as Microsoft and Amazon.
