Fady Mishriki is a globally-recognised entrepreneur and innovator, most widely known as the founder of wireless charging technology company, PowerbyProxi. Founded in 2007 as a spin-out from the University of Auckland, the company and grew to become a world leader in its space and was acquired by a global tech giant in 2017. Fady is involved with the University of Auckland’s Engineering Dean’s Leadership Program and the Velocity Challenge to support the next generation of students and is a recipient of the KEA World Class New Zealander Award.
David Beard was the first investor-director on PowerbyProxi’s board from 2009 and worked closely with the team until the company was acquired. Movac was the company's founding investor and is New Zealand's most experienced venture capital company having invested in iconic Kiwi companies such as TradeMe, Aroa, PowerbyProxi, Mint and Revolution Fibres. Movac is now raising Fund 5 to provide Kiwi entrepreneurs a funding path from Pre-A to Series C (and all the tough bits in-between). David is passionate about New Zealand deep technology and working closely with founders on commercialisation. He also judges and mentors aspiring student entrepreneurs in the Velocity Challenge.
