Do you love colouring? And numbers? Tūranga (the library on Cathedral Square) is hosting a fun day where there will be all sorts of activities you can do to explore how computers store pictures using nothing but numbers. Find out how photos are made out of digits (and why we call them “digital” photos), and decode your own pictures using a free colouring pack that you can also take home.

There will be a variety of challenges, with prize draws every hour on the hour. There are also great prizes for schools - the more students who come from your school, the more chance of the school winning a prize.

There will be a variety of fun activities designed by teachers, and organised by staff and students from the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at the University of Canterbury.

The event is for families, especially if you have primary school aged children. But it's suitable for anyone who wants to learn about how digital devices work, and knows how to use a pack of crayons and can count up to 10. Oh, and it helps to be a bit curious!
