What's it all about?
Tech to protect, restore and enjoy Taranaki's environment will be held at Puke Ariki, an integrated knowledge hub located at the heart of New Plymouth.
The event will start with a welcome/introduction to Puke Ariki and their work on digital and environmental initiatives.
After the introduction, four different speakers from the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors will share their stories about innovation, technology and environment in the Taranaki region.
The evening will finish with some "mix and mingle" time, where you can meet and talk with the presenters and other attendees.

Speakers
Joshua Richardson
Josh is passionate for creating opportunities through science and technology for the Taranaki community. He has a background in marine science, applying his expertise in research and idea development to support community groups to develop their own investigations and collaborate with science and technology professionals.

You will also learn about the environmental and digital initiatives Puke Ariki is working on.
Tim Sjoberg, biodiversity coordinator of Taranaki Mounga, will discuss major technological advances made over the past few years, some challenges conservation faces with the use of technology and how do we scale up predator control Taranaki/nationally to achieve Predator Free.
Ben Plummer, CEO of Drone Technologies NZ Ltd, will showcase different examples of environmental monitoring using drones.
Victor Anton, CEO of Wildlife.ai, will explain how local biologists are using machine learning to maximise their conservation efforts. He will also share how students from different schools are learning about wildlife conservation and digital technologies in creative and engaging ways.
Josh Richardson will showcase different projects that use and promote S.T.E.A.M around Taranaki. These projects include Project Reef; a repository of knowledge about subtidal rocky reef communities found in the South Taranaki Bight.
