Visual effects has always been a mix of artistry and ingenuity. In this session, Visual Effects Supervisor Wayne Stables will present Weta Digital’s recent work on Avengers: Endgame, Alita: Battle Angel, and Gemini Man, sharing exclusive insights into the various technologies behind the artistry and the teams required to develop and support them.
At Weta Digital, developer and technical crew number in the hundreds with expertise ranging through cutting-edge R&D focused on imagery and simulation to more traditional business systems and web development. Wayne will talk about some of the IT infrastructure that lies underneath the final images you see on screen and how hundreds of people contribute to our success.
The presentation is followed by a moderated Q&A panel featuring Wayne along with Weta Digital Chief Information Officer Kathy Gruzas, Head of IT Operations Duncan Hunter, and Recruitment Manager Tanya Buchanan.
