The complex interactions between our land, air, water, flora and fauna of our ecosystems is under increase pressure through intensification and climate change. At the same time digital ecosystems are forming to help us better understand the current state and behaviour of our environment so that we can replenish, protect and sustain it for generations to come. These digital ecosystems are bringing together collaborators from across academia, government, iwi and business.

Albert Bifet (Professor Computer Science, University of Waikato ): Project TAIAO - Time-Evolving Data Science / Artificial Intelligence for Advanced Open Environmental Science
Currently managing the Ministry’s newly formed Data and Analytics function,
with particular focus on developing data capability across the Ministry, and
to ensure the Ministry has the governance, systems, business rules and
capability to access, manage, analyse and visualise data.
Dan also manages the National Monitoring System, which provides an evidence
base for the development of resource management policy and practice at the
national and local levels.
